. NVIDIA announced its new RTX 20 SUPER series graphics card earlier this month and the GeForce RTX 2060 Super is probably the best bang for the buck option you can go for in the newly revised lineup. Like the rest of the board partners, Gigabyte released its own design for this model, which is the RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G we have here for this review. Specifications GPU GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G SMs 34 34 CUDA Cores 2176 2176 Tensor Cores 272 272 Tensor FLOPS (FP16) RT Cores 34 34 Texture Units 136 136 ROPs 64 64 Ray Cast 6 Giga Rays 6 Giga Rays GPU Boost Clock 1650 MHz 1815 MHz Memory Data Rate 14 Gbps 14 Gbps Total Video Memory Size 8G GDDR6 8G GDDR6 Memory Interface 256-bit 256-bit Memory Bandwidth 448 GB/sec 448 GB/sec TDP 175W 175W Unboxing The packaging looks really similar to the RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G in overall, except that now it comes with 8GB GDDR6 memory and the ‘SUPER’ tag behind the model name. At the front of the box, you’ll see the familiar RGB Fusion compatible, WindForce cooling fan design for Gigabyte graphics cards. You’ll also find the common features for NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards Turing GPU, GDDR6 memory, RT cores, and support for NVIDIA DLSS. At the back of the box, you’ll find more of the highlighted features such as the Windforce cooling fan design, copper heatpipes that is in direct contact with the GPU die for better cooling performance, RGB Fusion lighting and the included metal backplate at the back of the PCB. Accessories wise, Gigabyte didn’t include any fancy extras but the usual Driver CD and Quick Start Guide. The Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G Unlike the fancy-looking AORUS lineup, graphics card under the Gigabyte brand usually comes in a more minimalist design. If you’re not a fan of RGB lightings, this card is definitely something that is worth looking into – there’s still RGB lighting on this card, but very minimal. The only RGB lighting you’ll get on this card is located at the side of the cooler shroud. This can be disabled with the RGB Fusion software, just in case if you seriously don’t want any RGB lighting in your system. The triple-fan cooler aka the WindForce cooler on the RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G is pretty similar to the one on the RTX 2060 Gaming OC 6G. The idea of having a middle fan rotating in a reversed direction to further improve the cooling performance. For the power requirement, the RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G requires a 550W power supply as recommended by Gigabyte. Other than the slightly higher requirement on the power supply, it also requires an additional 6-pin PCIe power connector to power up. A metal backplate is included at the back of the card to improve the overall rigidity of the PCB. The backplate is not as thick as we hope it would be, but it’ll still get the job done. Since the heatsink isn’t that heavy. For the display output, the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G supports 2 x DisplayPort, 1 x HDMI, 1 x DVI-D, and 1 x type-C connector. Test System Setup For our games benchmark test, we’ve selected a number of AAA titles to run at its highest possible settings using the following setup under an ambient temperature of 30°C: CPU Intel Core i7 8700K @5GHz Motherboard ASUS ROG Maximus X Apex Memory TridentZ RGB 16GB @3200MHz Graphics Card Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G Power Supply Enermax MaxTytan 1250W Primary Storage Gigabyte UD Pro 512GB SSD Secondary Storage WD Black 6TB CPU Cooler Thermaltake Floe Riing 360 RGB Chassis Cooler Master Test Bench V1 Operating System Windows 10 64bit The test is done separately for games that support both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 at the resolution of 1920×1080, 2560×1440, and 3840×2160. Games Benchmark Since the RTX 2060 is already a very capable graphics card to begin with, you can pretty much expect the RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G to do even better for 1080p gaming. As we move on to 1440p gaming, the RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G can still manage the selected titles without much issue. Though, we can see that it started to struggle a little with Metro Exodus. While the RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G is clearly not meant for 4K gaming, but it’s actually capable of doing so. Well, that is if you’re willing to lower down the settings to high or perhaps medium. Temperature Since the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G is equipped with silent fan design, the cooling fans will not spin until the temperature reaches around 50°C. Despite the silent fan design, the temperature during idle is only at around 40°C. 72°C is the maximum load temperature recorded during heavy load with Furmark test, but the highest temperature recorded during games benchmark is only at 68°C. Enabling the DRX feature in RTX games like Metro Exodus, Battlefield V and Shadow of the Tomb Raider won’t affect the load temperature much, as 67°C is the peak temperature recorded for RTX games benchmark. Final Thoughts The overall build quality of the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC might not be as solid as the RTX 2060 Super Founders Edition, but it can definitely run quieter and cooler with its triple-fan cooler. While running on full load with Furmark test, the maximum load temperature recorded is at 72°C, which is 5°C cooler than the Founders Edition. Unlike the RTX 2060, Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G actually come with a higher price tag of RM 2,179. If we look into the fact that it’s basically a slightly nerfed RTX 2070, the price might seem a little bit more acceptable to some. Though some resellers will not be happy with its release and the price tag, as it’s already cannibalizing the existing RTX 2070. Performance-wise, the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G is a very capable mid-range graphics card that can handle most of the latest AAA titles in 1080p and 1440p with ease. If you’re really into the realistic lighting with RTX games, this is a pretty decent choice to go for as well. It’s not quite there yet to conquer all the existing RTX games in 1440p – especially for Metro Exodus, but it’s an absolute beast when it comes to 1080p gaming with RTX features. Pros Triple-fan cooler with decent cooling performance USB Type-C port Support the latest RTX games Basically an RTX 2070 with small nerf Slightly cheaper than the RTX 2070 at launch Bundled with a free game for a limited time (Control and Wolfenstein: Youngblood) Cons Doesn’t support NVLink

Během testu byly u grafické karty Gigabyte RTX 2060 SUPER Gaming OC zaznamenány následující hodnoty provozních vlastností: Provozní vlastnosti Následující tabulka sumarizuje naměřené hodnoty provozních vlastností, kterých grafická karta Gigabyte RTX 2060 SUPER Gaming OC v testu 3DMark Time Spy Stress Test dosáhla.
Go to page: Power Consumption, Fan Speeds, Clock Rates and Temperature Power ConsumptionWe used CPUz logging to measure the cards’ power consumption with the Metro: Exodus benchmark running at 2560 x 1440 using the default Ultra settings. The tested cards are warmed up prior to testing, with testing started after the card settles to an idle temperature (after about 10 minutes). The benchmark is looped a total of five times, which yields around 10 minutes of testing. In the charts, you will see a few blips in power use, which is a result of the benchmark starting the next also use Furmark to capture worst-case power readings. Although both Nvidia and AMD consider the application to be a “power virus,” or program that deliberately taxes the components beyond normal limits, the data we can gather from it offers useful information about a card’s capabilities outside of typical gaming loads.(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)The biggest takeaway from this chart is the surprisingly substantial difference between similar cards. The Gaming OC version used a lot more power than other models, topping out at nearly 220W. The Windforce version reached 180W, while the reference card peaked around 163W. The Gaming OC does deliver higher clock speeds. But to see such a large difference is surprising.(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)Taking a look at the Furmark results, we observe less of a difference in peak or average power use between these cards. This is due to the cards throttling themselves using this benchmark to stay at their listed TDPs. The Gaming OC version peaked at almost 220W, with the Windforce version using less power overall, but still peaking at Fan Speeds and Clock RatesIn order to see how each video card behaves, like the power testing, we use GPUz logging in one-second intervals to capture data. Game testing is done looping the Metro: Exodus benchmark five times at Ultra settings running at 2560x1440 also used Furmark to capture some of the data below, which offers a more consistent load and uses slightly more power, regardless of the fact that the clock speeds and voltages are limited. These data sets give insight into worst-case situations, along with a load other than gaming.(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)During our gaming test, the Gigabyte OC Gaming card using the Windforce 3 cooler reached a peak of 74C during our testing. This result, surprisingly, is the highest of the compared cards, but only by two degrees. The card ramped up to this temperature a lot faster due to significantly more power use than the other 2060 Supers, while the other cards took more time to reach their peak. The Windforce card with its dual-fan cooler, topped out at 72C, alongside the reference-cooled RTX 2060 Super. Overall, all three RTX 2060 Supers have ample cooling for the silicon at their core.(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)Fan speeds on these cards varied quite a bit between the comparison group. The slightly warm-running Gaming OC with its three-fan cooler is idle for the initial part of the test, then ramps up to around 1,500 RPM and keeps going to a peak of almost 2,100 RPM. During testing, the fans are audible but not annoying. We can see in the chart the fan speed swings quite a bit with temperatures, nearly a 500 RPM Windforce card and its two-fan solution ramped up a lot slower. Like the Gaming OC, it also uses the 3D Fan feature, so its fans are off until they reach a specific temperature. Once they spin up, the two large fans spin leisurely at around 1,800 RPM. The curve is very flat, which tells us the card’s default fan curve doesn’t respond as quickly to changing temperatures -- a good thing as sometimes this speeding up and slowing down can be annoyingly to the reference card, both Gigabyte models were quieter, regardless of the lower overall fan speed. The reference card also does not have a ‘zero fan’ capability, instead running at 1,500 MHz from the get-go. If you want silence on light loads, aftermarket cards are the answer.(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)When looking at the clock speeds, by specification the Gaming OC is set to run the fastest, with a boost clock listed at 1,815 MHz compared to 1,710 MHz on the Windforce. What we actually saw was the Gaming OC averaging 1,899 MHz, while the Windforce averaged 1,854 Mhz. The reference RTX 2060 Super averaged 1,831 MHz, the slowest of the bunch as we’d expect. Unlike AMD’s boost clocks on video cards, Nvidia’s boost spec is essentially a ‘minimum’ boost clock, with cards going well above that mark under normal operating credit: Tom's Hardware)Temperatures in Furmark did not differ much from gaming. Reaching the max temperature took a bit longer since the cards are throttling in an attempt to stay within their power specs. The Gaming OC peaked at 74C, the same as in the previous test, while the Windforce reached 72C, also the same as in game Gaming OC with its beefier cooling should have cooled better on paper. However, its increased power limits and power use means we are seeing similar temperatures, because the higher-clocked card has to dissipate more heat.(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)Like we saw elsewhere, the fans on the Gaming OC ramped up to 2,100 RPM again, with the Windforce peaking at 1,800 MHz. Meanwhile, the reference-cooled RTX 2060 Super peaked at a bit less than 1,800 RPM. Overall, all cooling solutions were effective and relatively quiet. The sound coming from the reference card is a bit louder than the two aftermarket cards. But between the two Gigabyte cards, while neither are noisy and there’s no whine or other noises that we can hear, the three-fan Gaming OC is a little noisier than the dual-fan Windforce. But you do get slightly better performance for the slight noise tradeoff.(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)Clock rates are where we see the biggest difference between Furmark and gaming. A quick glance at the chart and we can see all cards run at significantly slower speeds here. Again, the cards are working at managing the clock speeds and voltages to stay within their this case, the Gaming OC averaged just below 1,600 MHz for the majority of the test, compared to the almost 1,900 MHz when gaming. The Windforce showed similar results, running around 1,500 MHz here versus 1,854 MHz in Best Graphics CardsMORE: Desktop GPU Performance Hierarchy TableMORE: All Graphics Content Joe Shields is a Freelance writer for Tom’s Hardware US.
